Online Consultation Guidelines

Apr 06 2020

Dear colleagues,

Greetings from IADVL.

Board of Governors in supersession of the Medical Council of India in partnership with NITI Aayog has recently published guidelines (vide Notice No MCI-211(2)/2019 (Ethics)/201858 dated 25.03.2020) for practice of telemedicine in India, in the wake of COVID-19 Pandemic.

In consideration of Nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, several State Medical Councils, e.g. Punjab Medical Council, Tamil Nadu Medical Council, Karnataka Medical Council, Gujarat Medical Council have also allowed practice of telemedicine.

Dermatology has a very special place in telemedicine as a diagnosis can be made based on clinical images and relevant clinical history, transmitted by means of telecommunication.

In order to simplify the understanding of the exhaustive document, the IADVL Academy has endeavoured to prepare a brief document for ready reference. In case of any doubt or if any clarification is required, the reader is requested to consult the original document available at https://www.mohfw.gov.in/pdf/Telemedicine.pdf. For any further updates, kindly check on Medical Council of India website.

This document is based solely on the material available in the original guideline. If you have any queries, you are requested to convey to us. The collated concerns may be communicated to the competent authority in an opportune time. We have already sought clarification from the competent authority on several issues.

We hope you find the document useful.

Thanks and regards
