ILDS Certificate of Appreciation 2022

Dear IADVL Member,

The ILDS Certificate of Appreciation is awarded annually to a number of individuals and is presented to the awardees at various national and international meetings.

IADVL being a Member Society of ILDS can nominate individuals suitable for an ILDS Certificate of Appreciation.

IADVL invites applications from its Life members to apply to be considered for the ILDS Certificate of Appreciation. Please go through the Awards Criteria below.

IADVL only nominates a person for the Award, ILDS has a specific ILDS Awards Committee that considers individuals who might receive the Awards.

The Certificates of Appreciation aims to recognise dermatologists and others in the field of dermatological care who have made an outstanding contribution in one of the following categories:

1. International Leadership
These are dermatologists that have shown international leadership which has made an impact on global health policies and practices, furthering cross-border research, education and empowerment of dermatologists, their societies and the public.

2. Humanitarian Dermatology
Those that have been undertaking their work in a selfless, humanitarian and not-for-profit manner to improve the skin health of people in under-served areas of the world.

Awards criteria
Candidates will be considered by the Committee with reference to the following criteria which should be illustrated in the candidate’s CV and nomination form.

Category 1: International Leadership
This may include reference to the following and should focus on the impact and outcomes of the involvement:

  • Number of years active in international dermatology activities
  •  Number of roles in national (with an international focus) and international Societies/Associations at Board Member level (including honorary memberships). Please list roles and organisations.
  • International-level mentorship, education and empowerment initiatives for underrepresented groups (women, people of colour, young professionals, etc.). Please provide examples and specify the impact that the work had. A list without examples will not score points.
  • Involvement in organising international dermatology programmes, initiatives and congresses. Please provide examples. A list without examples will not score points.
  •  Number of articles published in international peer-reviewed journals or books, listed on PubMed and written in English, where you are the first/senior/corresponding author.
  • Please list 5 specific publications that have contributed to furthering international leadership in dermatology.
  •  Please provide a statement supporting how you have contributed to furthering international leadership in dermatology, please include examples.

Category 2: Humanitarian Dermatology
How has the individual contributed to improving dermatological care of patients in under-served areas of the world?

  • Number of years supporting humanitarian programmes/projects.
  • On average in a year how many weeks do you spend supporting projects/programmes in low-resource areas.
  • Provide details of the work that you have carried out, directly or indirectly, benefitting patients/communities or individuals working in dermatology in low-resource areas /countries. Please provide examples and specify the impact that the work has had.
  • Please estimate the number of people that have benefited from the activities/programmes in which you have been involved. For example, patients, trainees, health care workers, mentees.
  • Number of articles published in international peer-reviewed journals or books, listed on PubMed and written in English, where you are the first/senior/corresponding author.
  • Please list 5 specific publications that have contributed to furthering humanitarian dermatology in dermatology.
  • Please provide a statement supporting how you have contributed to humanitarian dermatology and highlighting any particular achievements that should be taken into consideration by the Awards Committee.

Please fill up the attached application form and provide the details asked above, and also write your LM number, years IADVL membership. It is the responsibility of the member to send correct details and a proper filled form to IADVL. Incomplete forms will not be evaluated.

The last date to send in your applications to secretarygeneral@iadvl.org is 01/03/2022.

Notes: Nominees are scored against each of the above criteria. Include information against the criteria. The more detailed your examples the better the Committee will be able to assess the nominee’s contribution to International Leadership/Humanitarian Dermatology and the more points the nominee will score against the criteria.You will also need to upload the CV (max. 4 pages in English).
